Caroline Asano Kunishige Skinner, 78, of Barton, MS passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016. She was born in Haina, Hawaii where she spent most of her childhood before entering the U. S. Army. After her service in the Army, she served as a Circuit Court Clerk in Dallas, TX. After retiring, she settled in Mississippi in the Barton community. She loved music and enjoyed playing her 12 string guitar. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, Ida Kala and Sam Kunishige; siblings, Warren Kunishige, Delbert Kunishige, and Mamoru Kunishige.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Skinner of Barton, MS; sons, James (Andrea) Poppenhouse of Tampa, FL, Robert (Robin) Poppenhouse of Helena, MS, and Gary Wayne (Sheila) Skinner of Chico, TX, and Anthony Kunishige of Hilo, HI; brothers, Norman Kunishige, Earl Kunishige, Roy Kunishige, and Moses Kunishige; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
The visitation will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. at East Moss Point Baptist Church in Escatawpa, MS. The funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. with Rev. David Abbott officiating. Interment will follow at Griffin Cemetery in Moss Point.
Serving as pallbearers will be James Poppenhouse, Robert “Bob” Poppenhouse, Gary Wayne Skinner, Colt Skinner, James Crowder, Keith Dennis, Lee Carpenter, Billy Carpenter, and Tim Carpenter.
