Dr. Dennis Elton Magee, 85, a resident of Big Point, MS passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 21st from 9:00a.m. – 11:00a.m. at Temple Baptist Church and funeral services following with the Rev. David Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Serene Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Big Point. Heritage Funeral Home in Moss Point is in charge of the arrangements.

Dr. Magee was born on August 18, 1931 in Tylertown, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cooper and Wilder Magee, his beloved wife of 63 years, Jamis, his brothers, Robert Magee and Douglas Magee and his sister Ruth Eason.He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and he then attended the University of Mississippi Medical School, earning a degree in medicine. He practiced as a General Practitioner in Picayune until 1974 when he returned to UMMC and obtained a second medical degree in Pathology. He worked at Singing River Hospital’s Laboratory from 1978 until his retirement in 2003.

Dr. Magee is survived by his son, Don Magee and wife, Julie, of Mobile, AL; daughters, Kathy Magee of Mobile, AL and Denise Magee of Big Point, MS; his only granddaughter, Meredith Magee of Monroe, LA; and numerous other relatives.                                     He was an avid gardener, hunter, and fisherman. He served many leadership roles in his church and had a great love for his church family. He never failed to help those in need and throughout his life he quietly made a meaningful difference in many lives.               In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Temple Baptist Church Building Fund.
