Esther Lynnell “Lynnie” Thompson, 74, of Moss Point, MS, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Lynnie was born on September 8, 1942 in Pascagoula, MS to the late Bryan and Laverne Broadus. She will be remembered by many for her passion for teaching 9th grade English at Magnolia Jr. High for 31 years. She was a longtime member of Escatawpa Baptist Church, where she served her Lord teaching Sunday school for many years. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Lynnie was preceded in death by her husband, William Gordon “Buddy” Thompson, brother, Jon Ladd Broadus, and sister, Patricia Nan Broadus Stratton.

She is survived by her two daughters, Amanda Lynn (Randy) Busby and Andra Alayne (Jimmy) Harris; grandchildren, William Tyler (Jessica Marie) Thompson, Shane Harris, Olivia Alayne (Jessie Malcolm) Goff, Sarah Annabelle Burrows, Lillian Elizabeth (Joel) Gutierrez, and Maranda Lynn Busby; great-grandchildren, Haleigh Grace Thompson, Emma Kate Gray, William Conner Thompson, Bryan Lane Gutierrez, and soon to arrive baby Thompson; sisters, Dot (Miles) Finely, Lydia Phillips, Donna (Bruce) Blayney and Bonnye (Alan) Hall; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Lynnie requested donations be made to the children’s church at Escatawpa Baptist Church,  P.O Box 725 Escatawpa, MS 39552.

The visitation for Lynnie will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Escatawpa Baptist Church in Escatawpa, MS. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Bro. Todd Bowen officiating. Interment will follow at Caswell Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wade, MS with William T. Thompson, Shane Harris, Jessie M. Goff, Joel Gutierrez, Bryan Broadus, and Glyn T. Thomas serving as pallbearers.

Heritage Funeral Home, locally owned and operated, in Escatawpa/Moss Point, MS is in charge of arrangements.
