Jerald Wayne Hudson, 74, of Moss Point, MS, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017, in Mobile, AL. He was born on August 26, 1942 in Jackson County, MS to the late Jack and Dorothy Hudson. He graduated from East Central High School where he became the first left-handed quarterback. He was a dedicated ECHS football fan and rarely missed a game. Jerald started the East Central PeeWee Football Association. In 1961, Jerald won the state championship in diving and swimming. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially turkey hunting. He spent 19 years in the Army National Guard and left as a Staff Sergeant. He then went on to his career at Ingalls and retired after 30+ years. He enjoyed his weekly Wednesday visits to the George County stockyard with his cousin, Peanut Bullock. Most of all, Jerald enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, JoAnne Morris; children, Kim (Scott) Welford, Jodie (Eugene) Morrow, Jason (Christine) Hudson, Tracy (Melissa) Morris, Joey Morris, and Stevie Morris; grandchildren, Whitney Kirkwood, Wes (Shana) Kirkwood, Cody Kirkwood, Reagan Morrow, Garrett Morrow, Paris Hudson, Tyler Morris, and Haley Morris; great-grandchildren, Bradyn and Heath Howell, Shayley, Weston, Casen, and Brayley Kirkwood; sister, Sandra Welford; and loyal Rat Terrier, Sugar; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Moss Point/Escatawpa. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Cecil Wayne Hinton officiating. Interment will follow at Serene Memorial Gardens in Moss Point, MS.

Pallbearers will be Wes Kirkwood, Cody Kirkwood, Tyler Morris, Bill Hudson, Scott Welford, and Peanut Bullock. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Bullock, Cecil Hinton, Gene Almond, and Greg Hudson.
