Judith “Judy” Diane Capers, 72, of Moss Point, left this earth on January 2, 2017, to be with her parents, Rueben and Sarah Coleman.  The third of four sisters, she was born in Allen, Alabama on December 16, 1944.  Her early childhood years were spent in Mobile, Alabama until a family move brought them to Mississippi.  It is there that she stayed; making friends, putting down roots, and eventually having a family of her  own.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Monroe Capers, and her son, Harvey Graff.

She enjoyed researching her family’s genealogy, and was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  She had a beautiful voice and loved singing and dancing with her sisters.  She was passionate about all kinds of music, and had an extraordinary record album collection.  Gardening, reading and needlework were some of her favorite pastimes.  She was a member of Krewe of Tri-Cities, and for 40 years was also member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Judy loved the Lord with all her heart and shared that faith with her children and grandchildren.  Her family is praising God today that she has finally been reunited with her son Harvey.  She will be remembered by her surviving children, grandchildren, sisters, and large extended family, who she loved dearly.

The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of Hospice of Light and Singing River Hospital for the care and love shown to her during her illness.

There will be a graveside service on Friday, January 6, 2017, at Serene Memorial Gardens at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. John White officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Our Daily Bread, 3502 Old Mobile Hwy, Pascagoula, MS 39581.
