Mercer John “Bull” Collum, 70, of Wade, MS, passed from this life on Monday, October 17, 2016. John was born on January 22, 1946 in Pascagoula, MS to the late John William and Eloise Jones Collum. At the age of 19 he was called to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. He served his Tour of Duty in Vietnam where he was wounded and earned a Purple Heart. He was passionate about hunting and fishing. If you couldn’t find him in the woods, you could find him in a boat. He was a Master Carpenter and worked his whole life for many different companies as a Foreman. He will be greatly missed as a husband, Daddy, Poppa, and friend.

Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Collum.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Gail Collum; sister, Sharon Mathis; son, Joel Collum; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and James Darden; three grandchildren, AJ Collum, Brady Doswell, Isabella Doswell; along with a host of other friends and relatives.

The visitation for John will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa, MS. Funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula, MS. Pallbearers will be James Darden, Jessie Goff, Jimmy Goff, Dustin Faggard, Ronald Taylor, and AJ Collum. Honorary pallbearer will be Eddie Hogeland.
