Obituaries » Michael Stewart

Michael Clark Stewart, 54, of Pascagoula, MS, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. Born in Pascagoula, MS, the oldest of 4 siblings, he graduated from Pascagoula High School in 1980 and attended USM. He then completed Ingalls Electrical Apprenticeship Program at Jackson County Junior College. Michael continued working at Ingalls and his work carried him to other locations such as Maine, Texas, and Ketchikan, Alaska.  Michael was an active member of First United Methodist Church Pascagoula.

He was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease and then returned home to Mississippi for treatment.  The family would like to thank Keith Delcambre, owner of Bozos, for helping Mike these last several years. When at Bozos, Mike was able to reconnect with many friends and forget the severity of his illness.

Mike was our family historian, mathematician and trivia king.  He had an uncanny way about him that kept everyone smiling, despite his daily struggles.  He had a love for family, especially his three grandchildren. Mike was a dedicated golfer and had the privilege of playing on numerous golf courses throughout the states.  He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting, which was a family tradition. The plans of a future duck hunting trip gave him daily strength during these last few months.  The family would like to thank the health professionals that cared for Mike throughout the years.

Michael was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, B.J. & Edna Stewart of Louisville, MS, and his maternal grandparents, Janelle & Bud Pelham of Pascagoula, MS.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Austin (Ashley) Stewart of Gulf Shores, Al; grandchildren, Chloe, Lucas & Ethan of Gulf Shores, AL; mother, Susie Stewart; father, Clark Stewart; siblings, Tim (Melissa) Stewart, Kim (Rick) Hollomon, and Allison (Jeff) Washington. Michael is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

A visitation will be held Monday, January 23, 2017, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church Pascagoula. Services will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Eddie Kirby and Rev. Sherry Judy officiating. Pallbearers will be Jamie Pelham, Joe Bosco, Keith Delcambre, Jeff Long, Mitch Doze, and Tony Miles. Graveside service will follow at Machpelah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in memory of Michael to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852, or to the First United Methodist Church Pascagoula, Facelift Fund, 2710 Pascagoula St., Pascagoula, MS, 39567.
