Roland Dale Boyd, 78, of Vancleave, MS, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016. He was born on January 5, 1938 in Ruth, MS. Roland was an active member of First Baptist Church of Vancleave. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and retired from the maintenance department at Chevron Refinery.

Roland was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Boyd; father, R.V.  Boyd; and his brother, Edwin Boyd.

He is survived by his children,  Dale Boyd, Jr, Kris Speed, Quint (Belinda) Moran, and Nicole A. Moran.; mother, Loraine Boyd Gray; grandchildren, Amanda (Beau) Lebatard, Roman Moran, and Marleigh Moran; sister, Linda Jean (Billy) Vice; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The family would like to give thanks to Mr. Billie Canterbury for being there while Roland passed on to glory. They would also like to give special thanks to his caregivers, Cathy and Frank Santos.

The visitation for Roland will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Vancleave. The funeral service will follow at the church beginning at noon with Dr. Don Boone officiating. Interment will be at Vancleave #1 Cemetery with Doug Shore, Billie Canterbury, Roman Moran, Beau Lebatard, Tinker Sykes and Ed Taylor serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Light, 3535 Bienville Blvd., Ocean Springs, MS 39564.

Heritage Funeral Home, locally owned and operated, in Escatawpa/Moss Point, MS is in charge of arrangements.
