Obituaries » Victor Mack Verzal Sr.

Victor Mack Verzal, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at the age of 59, surrounded by family  and loved ones. Victor was born on February 11, 1957, in Pascagoula, MS where he was a life-long resident.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Victor and Lodessie Verzal; sister, Betty Verzal Campbell; and father-in-law, Cecil Walters.

Victor is survived by his loving and loyal wife of 40 years, Jerri Verzal; four sons, who always admired their father, Victor Mack Verzal, Francis Ed Verzal, Robert Maston Verzal, and Ernest Burke Knight; caring daughter-in-law who is married to Robert, Julie Verzal; grandchildren, Savannah Verzal, Breanna Verzal, Sierra Verzal, Ian Verzal, Arin Sanders, Zach Sanders, James Knight, Alyssa Knight, Aubrey Dillon, Matthew Dillon, and many other family members.

Victor was proud to be a member of his community and was one of the first people to help establish T-Ball in Pascagoula, where he coached his sons throughout their school years. On nights where the baseball fields were lit up you could always see and hear him supporting his boys and their many friends. Sometimes it was gentle encouragement and sometimes it was shouting and clapping. He loved the outdoors and spent many days fishing with his family and friends. To Victor, it was a time to relax and spend time with the people he cared about.

One of the things he loved the most was to travel. Often he traveled with his wife, but most times he took as many kids and grandkids as the car could hold. He loved his grandchildren dearly. Victor not only impacted the lives of his boys, but their friends as well. In their teenage years, they had many friends and these friends were always welcome at the Verzal’s home. Victor was quite a man but he was always there for anyone who needed guidance, advice, hugs, or a shoulder to cry on. He never turned anyone away. He was a loyal friend and many life-long friends will remember him with smiles on their faces and memories in their minds.

He positively impacted many lives along the way. Victor will be remembered as a good husband, father, grandfather, son-in-law, and friend. To be called all these in life shows a life of love and honor to those around him. He was a member of the Pascagoula Elks Lodge 1120 for many years. He was employed at Kings, Inc. for 38 years, where he remained a loyal and hard-working employee and was respected by his boss and co-workers.

A visitation will be held Friday, January 27, 2017, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 9721 Highway 63, Moss Point, MS. Funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. He will be laid to rest at Jackson County Memorial Park in Pascagoula, MS.
