Wendy Ielaidnis McKinney, 55, of Moss Point, MS, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 while surrounded by her family. Wendy was born on November 2, 1961 to John I. and Jimmie L. Ielaidnis. Wendy had a passion for life, and lived it to the fullest.  She was a force of nature that succeeded in everything that she set her mind to. She spent her life caring for others more than she did for herself and was known by many and loved by all. Wendy had a kind spirit and will be remembered for her affectionate personality. She was a 1986 graduate of the Ole Miss School of Pharmacy, where she met the love of her life, John. With John by her side there was no goal that Wendy could not reach. She was committed to serving her community tirelessly as the co-owner of Burnham Drugs and Heritage Funeral Home. As a leader in her community, Wendy has had active roles through the years in the PTO, Moss Point Active Citizens and the American Heart Association, along with numerous other organizations. She was a member of the Vaught Society at the University of Mississippi Athletic Foundation, member of the Ole Miss Alumni Association, and was a member of Dantzler Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a great supporter and friend of Resurrection Catholic School. She was recognized by the Ole Miss School of Pharmacy for being a Distinguished Alumni for her outstanding service to her community after Hurricane Katrina. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and fabulous Gigi to her grandchildren.

Wendy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alice Dickson, Vilis “Teti” Ielaidnis, and Antonia Laseis Ielaidnis.

In addition to her parents, Wendy is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, John A. McKinney; children, William Alexander (Christine) McKinney, Christopher Michael McKinney, and John Franklin McKinney; grandchildren, Caden Nico McKinney, Noah Ryan McKinney, Mary Renee’ McKinney, and Alexandria Kay McKinney; sisters, Judy Ielaidnis (Philip) Smith and Lori Ielaidnis (Nick) Wolf; brothers-in-law, Franklin D. (Gale) McKinney and Randy Johnson; nieces and nephews, Bryant G. Smith, Jeremy P. Smith, Allie Wolf, Patrick Wolf, Randy Johnson Jr., Jamie Johnson, Jennifer McKinney Askins, Shawn McKinney and Patrick McKinney; along with other family and numerous friends.

Memorial contributions in Wendy’s memory may be made to the University of Mississippi Foundation, 406 University Avenue, Oxford, MS 38655 for the creation of the Wendy I. McKinney School of Pharmacy Scholarship at the University of Mississippi.

The visitation for Wendy will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa, MS. The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Dantzler Memorial United Methodist Church in Moss Point with Reverend David Newton and Reverend Jerry Beam officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula, MS with Wendy’s nephews serving as pallbearers.
