Mr. William Cecil “W.C.” Bellknap, 86 of Escatawpa, MS, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2016 in Pascagoula, MS. W.C. was born on July 18, 1930 in Pascagoula to the late Clarence T. and Mary E. “Betty” Gibbons Bellknap. He was a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast and was a dedicated member of Escatawpa/Safe Harbor United Methodist Church for more than 40 years. He served in the United States Navy from 1947 through 1954, before he began his career at Ingalls Shipbuilding, where he retired after 40 years of service. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, W.C. was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Nelson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Bellknap; children, Bruce (Pam)  Bellknap, Brian (Lisa) Bellknap, Denise (Rick) Gratia, Sonya (Steven) Smith, Vicki (Tommy) Johnson, and Carol Sherman; siblings, Clarence (Rose) Bellknap and Robert Bellknap; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other family and friends.

The visitation for W.C. will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa, MS. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel beginning at 12 noon with Rev. David Cumbest officiating. Interment will be held at Machpelah Cemetery.
